Prince Edward County Council has awarded a tender for phase three of the Picton Main Street reconstruction project.

During Tuesday’s council meeting, the tender was awarded to R.W. Tomlinson Limited.

The total approved cost is $10,448,966, which was within the project’s planned budget.

Construction is set to take place from 454 County Road 49 to Folkard Lane. The project will involve expanding underground infrastructure along the street, in order to handle increased water needs by developments in the area.

Construction is set to begin as soon as possible, with the project expected to finish in 2026. One lane of traffic will remain open, while a detour route is set to be established along County Roads 6 and 5.

The tender was approved after brief debate.
