A major 300-home plan at the edge of a Leicestershire town could “degrade” the quality of life for those already living there, it has been claimed. Whitwick Parish Council also fears there is “not the infrastructure in place to cope” with the additional rise in residents that the scheme will bring.

The parish authority has called for services such as schools , doctors and dentists to be expanded before development at Brooms Ley Farm in Coalville is approved. If these services are not in place before work starts, the council has warned “the quality of life of existing residents will be degraded” and there will be “adverse impacts on people’s health, mental health, wellbeing and happiness”.
