SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) - The Sioux City Explorers snapped its two-game losing streak with a 16-5 win over Sioux Falls.
Abdiel Layer turned the game on its head in the botom of the sixth inning, flipping a 4-3 deficit to a 7-4 Explorers lead with a grand slam. The Puerto Rico native homered again in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Sioux City with five RBI.
DShawn Knowles chippped in three RBI while Josh Day and Michael Quinones each plated a pair.
Jared Wetherbee struck out eight batters in a five inning start while the bullpen allowed just three hits and two runs in four innings.
Sioux City returns to action tomorrow night at home against the Canaries.
