A flurry of moves, including a handful of hard goodbyes, reduced the Indianapolis Colts ' roster from 90 players to 53 on Tuesday.

The team’s decisions were eye-opening, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard likely isn’t done adding players to the roster that will take on the Dolphins in the Sept. 7 season opener, but the moves he’s made so far highlight a few areas of potential trouble while also underlining the fact that Indianapolis will be very different defensively than it has been in the past.
