Police in Nkhatabay have arrested Kingsley Banda, 51 for being found with five, 200 litres of drums illegal petroleum fuel suspected to be transported to neighboring countries Mozambique and Tanzania.

The incident occurred during the morning of August 26, 2025 around 06:00 hours at Nkhatabay Jetty.

It has been established that Police Officers from the Marine department were on duty patrolling the jetty and they received a tip-off that Banda have dumped drums of liquid petroleum.

Following the tip-off, police managed to arrest Banda, locate the dumped drums and seized them.

He will appear before court to answer the charge of being found in possession of petroleum products without license.

Banda hails from Chalunda Village, Traditional authority Nkumpha in Likoma district.
