When you call 911, it’s typical to expect police or firefighters to show up to the site, but in the age of technology, that could change for some calls in Minnetonka. MPR News reports Minnetonka police and fire departments will have drones get to the scene before responders in certain situations. Minnetonka’s police chief said Monday that “emergency responders will benefit from knowing what a scene looks like before they get there. … In a demonstration Monday, staff practiced a response to this scenario: a person calling 911 to say they’ve been injured somewhere along Minnehaha Creek, but they don’t know their exact location.”
