An intense debate over whether Google can build a data center on the southeast side of Marion County is expected to reach the Indianapolis City-County Council next month — and elected officials are lining up to vote no on the $1 billion development.
At least 13 City-County Council members have stepped forward against a rezoning petition that would allow Google to convert 467 acres of rural land to build a data center, just a few members shy of the number of votes needed to overturn approval given by the Metropolitan Development Commission in an 8-1 vote on August 20.
