DALLAS — The man Dallas police shot and killed after he allegedly wielded a knife and threatened a woman in a North Dallas home was identified Thursday.

Officers responded around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a disturbance at a home in the 13800 block of Far Hills Lane, according to a public information officer with the Dallas Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a man allegedly threatening to harm a woman and himself with a knife inside a home, Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said at a press conference Wednesday morning. Police told the man to drop the knife, but he refused, according to a press release from the Dallas Police Department.

The man was later identified as 46-year-old Martin Benes by the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
