NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) confirmed a large police presence at Maury High School Wednesday morning was a precautionary response to an incident that happened Tuesday afternoon.
At 7:47 a.m. Wednesday, NPS emailed this message to Maury families:
Good Morning,
As a precaution to yesterday afternoon’s event, this morning at Maury High School the Norfolk Police Department and a team of their police dogs walked through the building as a safety precaution. Students and staff briefly stepped outside during the sweep. Please know there is no threat or danger. Thank you for continued support.
