The Mountain Brook election results are in and Graham Smith, who ran unopposed, is the city’s next mayor, and the first woman in the city’s history to hold that post.
Incumbent Councilor Gerald Garner won the Place 2 seat with 3,205 votes, followed by David Silverstein’s 2,789 votes, according to the latest unofficial results .
The voter tally represents only a 6% difference between the two candidates.
Garner served on the Parks and Recreation board for 11 years as well as the Board of Zoning Adjustment before being elected to the city council in 2020.
For the Place 4 seat, newcomer Becky Holt earned 3,633 votes, beating Joe Sandner IV who garnered 2,334 votes, by a 22% margin, according to the latest unofficial results .
