SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) - The Salem Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that left two men dead early Wednesday morning.

The first shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. in the area of 40th Place Southeast and Carson Drive Southeast. A 911 caller reported a crash and finding a person in the roadway, according to police.

Officers arrived to the scene and found a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died. His name has not yet been released.

Carson Drive SE was closed between 40th Place SE and Coolidge Drive SE during the investigation.

The second shooting happened about one hour later, at about 1:30 a.m., at Wallace Marine Park. Police say several 911 callers reported gunfire at a homeless camp in the park.
