The impact of Donald Trump’s Presidency is being felt the world over.

Markets in Delhi, 7,000 miles from Washington DC are now feeling the crunch of Trump’s new 50% tariffs on India.

Some items are exempt, such as mobile phones, some pharmaceuticals, some fuel products – but the bulk of India’s multi-billion dollar export market to the US is now hit with additional import taxes.

America says the tariffs are intended to persuade India to stop buying Russian oil, which it says is financing its invasion of Ukraine. India, however, cries hypocrite – accusing the Americans and Europeans of continuing their own trade with Russia where it suits them – like natural gas.
