Two men were killed early Wednesday morning in unrelated shootings, according to Salem police.

The first shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, when a witness called to report a crash near the intersection of 40th Place and Southeast Carson Drive and a man laying in the road, according to a Wednesday statement from the Salem Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene to find the man, 30, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Salem Hospital where he died from his injuries, the statement said.

Southeast Carson Drive is closed between 40th Place and Southeast Coolidge Drive, police posted on X .

Around one hour later, at 1:30 a.m., a caller reported gunshots at a homeless camp inside of Wallace Marine Park, police said.
