Congratulations are in order for the Bhutanese royal family, as the former King of Bhutan, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, celebrated the wedding of their son, Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, 41, on Monday. Prince Jigyel Ugyen, who is the half-brother of the reigning King of Bhutan, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, tied the knot with Ugen Choden Namgyel, who became a new Bhutanese princess.
The ceremony was held at Dechencholing Palace on 25 August. The Palace holds special significance for the Bhutanese royals , being the birthplace of the groom’s father, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo (the title for the Bhutanese monarch, which translates to ‘Dragon King’), and built in honour of the coronation
