The National Health Service is failing victims of domestic abuse and must urgently improve its response to “a public health emergency”, a new report first seen by Channel 4 News warns.
NHS systems remain ill-equipped to respond to the “insidious” nature of domestic abuse, experts have warned, with the health service still “not seeing it as their issue to tackle”.
The NHS has more contact with domestic abuse victims and perpetrators than any other public service, leaving it with “an especially important role to play”, the charity, Standing Against Domestic Abuse Together, said.
