Coastal Classroom is a free outdoor summer camp for New York middle schoolers to learn about water ecology, preservation and conservation.

Located in Kaiser Park in Coney Island, children enjoy kayaking, fishing and seining during the five-week camp that is run by the City Parks Foundation .

Timothy O’Keefe, a college student, was once a camper. Now he's returned to the program as an intern.

"I like it when the students have their own fun with the instruction that we give them," he told BK Reader. "So many of our students were closed off in the beginning and they just started spouting out and its beautiful to see. I love it."
