Congresswoman Julie Johnson said in a video she released this week that after the redistricting bill passed, she is looking at all of her options.

She said a lawsuit has already been filed in El Paso and attorneys are looking into the legality of the new districts.

“In my opinion, they directly violate the Voting Rights Act,” Johnson said. “Hopefully, the courts will vote these maps illegal and we’ll be able to continue to run in our existing District 32.”

If the courts don’t find the new districts illegal, Johnson said her team is taking a careful analysis of the new districts. She talking with community partners and colleagues about what district would be the best fit for her in the future.

“But I will be running for Congress again,” she said in the video.
