PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — Happy Honu Shave Ice is an Ohana-owned and operated business, born from sweet memories and a shared love for the joy that shave ice brings.

Owners Laura and Desmond Martin both have fond childhood memories of a frozen treat.

Laura was raised in Phoenix and grew up loving “Raspados” — the vibrant, flavorful Mexican-style shave ice. Desmond was raised in Haleʻiwa, Hawaii, where he knew shave ice as the ultimate “after-da-beach” treat, a cool tradition wrapped in aloha.

When Laura and Desmond’s paths merged, so did their favorite flavors, cultures, and passion for creating happiness through desserts.

The Martins bought a pushcart snow cone business in 2009, and in 2016, they bought a mobile shave ice trailer, with Desmond quitting his corporate electronics and man
