HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – To ensure it continues to meet the need of a growing county, the Hays County Food Bank has expanded its operations.
The Central Texas Food Bank reported in February that about one in six people living in the county are food insecure – not having consistent access to enough food to live a healthy lifestyle. Though the food insecurity rate in Hays County is slightly lower than Central Texas as a whole – 15.9% and 16.4%, respectively – Hays County has a higher poverty rate and more households without vehicles compared to Central Texas.
