Thanks to some recent rain and cooler temperatures, Quinte West has lifted its burn ban.

The city had issued a partial burn ban August 6, followed by a total burn ban on August 11 due to hot, dry weather.

Deputy Fire Chief Rick Caddick says although the burn ban has been lifted, they encourage everyone to burn responsibly and never leave a fire unattended.

Burn permits are still required for all open-air fires.
