Lafayette, LA – Extreme heat events are becoming more frequent and dangerous across South Louisiana. To help neighbors beat the heat in Lafayette Parish, the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) is leading a coordinated heat response—prioritizing preparedness, partnerships, and public education to keep residents safe.

Under the leadership of OHSEP Director Chad Sonnier, this effort brings together local agencies, nonprofits, and businesses to establish a reliable heat emergency framework that can be activated during severe weather conditions.
