BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — There will be a new voice for LSU Tiger football games beginning with the first home game against Louisiana Tech.

State Rep. Dixon McMakin (R-Baton Rouge) was chosen to be the new public address announcer. He is replacing Dan Borne, who held the role from 1986 to 2023. William Franques filled in for Borne in 2024 and will continue to be the public announcer for LSU baseball games.

McMakin will also be replacing Borne as the public announcer at LSU men's basketball games beginning this year. He will be the fourth person to hold the role of announcer at LSU football games.
