CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A major tech company says it is pausing pilot programs with federal agencies amid questions about when it shares data with those agencies.
Some Charlotte-area communities have seen the installation of license plate reader cameras made by Flock . The company has said it can help law enforcement agencies tackle crime by tapping into a vast network of cameras that process license plate data, enabling police officers and deputies to track down suspects.
Recently, these cameras have been installed in Lincoln County , Gastonia , and Union County , with stories about the cameras' success being shared. Now, Flock CEO Garrett Langley shares in a recent blog post that the company is pausing current pilots with two federal agencies.
