SHREVEPORT, La. — The City of Shreveport is moving ahead with plans to build its third new police substation, aimed at improving response times and strengthening community policing in the Cedar Grove area.

Officials said Testament Construction submitted the lowest bid at $1.79 million for the Cedar Grove Substation, which will be built in Cedar Grove Park at the corner of West 70th Street and St. Vincent Avenue, near Interstate 49.

The project is the final of three substations authorized by voters in the 2021 Public Safety Bond issue. Under Mayor Tom Arceneaux’s administration, progress has accelerated:

The Monkhouse Drive substation, near Shreveport Regional Airport, opened last month.

The North Market Street substation is under construction and expected to open by next spring.
