Ifind Labor Day to be a truly underrated holiday. In America, we have so few federal three-day weekends. The rest of the West takes off most of August, based off the Roman Feriae Augusti. Your ancestors had an August holiday in 18 BC, but you have to spend your one week of paid time if you want to see the sun . Your body feels the seasons changing , the days shortening. But you're trapped at work, practically in prison .

Labor Day gives us a long weekend when we physically need it most. It's a time to prep for the winter months ahead. And since I don't have a lawn where move earth and sow seed , I have to prep for harvest by buying clothes. Such is the life of modern man .
