RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Truckee Meadows Water Authority is asking customers to temporarily reduce outdoor watering due to poor river conditions.
TMWA officials say the Truckee River is experiencing unusually high turbidity levels caused by recent thunderstorms.
TMWA has temporarily closed some of its water-intake capacity to prevent dirt, debris and sediment from entering the treatment system. They say that the region’s water supply remains secure, and that this is a precautionary step to reduce the volume of river water available for treatment and delivery.
