The 49ers appear to be searching high and low for wide receivers to add to their roster.

After trading for Kansas City Chiefs wideout Skyy Moore on August 20 and reportedly adding veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Wednesday, San Francisco is interested in a reunion with Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne after his release from New England, NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reported, citing a source.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news of Bourne's release.

Bourne, 30, signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2017, and in eight seasons with San Francisco and New England, caught 292 passes for 3,714 yards and 22 touchdowns.

His best season came in 2021, when he caught 55 passes for 800 yards and five touchdowns with the Patriots.
