ROCHESTER, Minn. – A decision on whether the manslaughter trial of a former State Trooper will be moved out of Olmsted County has been delayed.
A motion hearing and settlement conference in the case of Shane Roper was scheduled for Wednesday.
Roper is accused of causing a deadly car crash in May 2024 outside Apache Mall that killed 18-year-old Olivia Flores of Owatonna and injured five others.
Roper has pleaded not guilty and a trial is tentatively set to begin in March 2026. Roper’s attorneys are pushing for a change of venue that would move the trial to another county.
A hearing on that motion is now scheduled for October 21.
