A 74-year-old man was found dead as firefighters were battling a fire at a house in Southington early Monday morning , according to the fire department.
Firefighters responded to a home on Chaffee Lane around 2:30 a.m. after getting several 911 calls and they found 74-year-old Stephen Chapin in the bedroom, fire officials said.

The Southington fire marshal's office, the Southington Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire, but fire officials said on Wednesday they have ruled out arson or an intentional cause.
