Friday: Punk Rock Karaoke’s Benefit for Food Not Bombs DC at Black Cat

It’s a tense time to be in D.C. right now—you know, I know it, anyone with a pulse knows it. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed or stretched thin or lost, perhaps a night of screaming—ahem—singing your favorite songs from Bikini Kill or Rilo Kiley while raising money for a local grassroots group will give you a sense of catharsis. Food Not Bombs, which has chapters around the world, has been active in D.C. since 2013, serving vegan meals every Saturday at 3 p.m. in McPherson Square to help fight the criminalization of poverty. As the Trump administration rips apart camps and displaces our city’s unhoused residents, now seems like as good a time as any to support a group that’s supporting some of our most vulnerable. Plus
