A special education teacher at a Dutchess County middle school has been accused of sexually exploiting three teenage girls through a social media app.

Daniel Alan Monarchi, 26, of Red Hook, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, announced Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, in the unsealing of a complaint .

The complaint identified Monarchi as a special education teacher at a Hyde Park middle school. As of Aug. 27, Monarchi is listed on the Haviland Middle School online staff directory as a teacher in the special education department. The school has not returned a request for comment.

Monarchi allegedly contacted the first victim, a 14-year-old girl in the Bronx, in September 2024 using the social media app Discord.
