The Patriots are planning to release wide receiver Javon Baker, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Players who have less than four years experience go on waivers. Baker was a fourth-round pick in last year’s draft. There’s a chance he could return to the practice squad if he’s not picked up by another team.

It’s the second big cut of the day among the Patriots’ wide receiver group. New England is also releasing Kendrick Bourne , according to ESPN.

Baker generated headlines with a memorable quote after the Patriots picked him.

“Bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand up,” Baker said in a 2024 video.

Baker recorded one catch on four targets, tallying 12 yards during his lone season with the Patriots.

He had one catch in three games during the preseason this year.
