Actually, the only constant on ESPN’s First Take is Stephen A. Smith’s voice. The man has sparred with Skip Bayless, gone toe-to-toe with Max Kellerman, and most recently shared space with Shannon Sharpe.

But ever since ESPN fired Sharpe, Smith has sat across an empty seat far too often.

That may be changing. According to an exclusive from Front Office Sports, former NFL MVP Cam Newton is getting a bigger role on First Take. Newton already shows up on Fridays during football season, but now he’s expected to expand his role and appear more than once per week.

Newton, who played 11 seasons in the NFL and won the Heisman at Auburn, brings both pro and college football credibility. He’s already carved out space in media with podcasting and guest appearances. Now, ESPN wants more of his voic
