Mecklenburg County will co-host a day-long conference designed to address various issues related to the ongoing opioid crisis.

The Sept. 15 conference at the Charlotte Convention Center will bring together diverse stakeholders to share data and discuss strategies.

Why it matters: Mecklenburg Public Health reported in February that fatal overdoses surged among Black and Hispanic residents from 2019 through 2023.

Conference topics will include evidence-based addiction treatments, employment services, early intervention and recovery support, and leaders will share how the county has used money from the nationwide opioid settlements.

The conference is free to Meck residents.
