PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Flat Fire burning in Jefferson and Deschutes counties continues to threaten the city of Sisters, Ore., as firefighters work to contain the blaze.

The wildfire, now just 2 miles northeast of the small city, is 23,261 acres large and only 7% contained, according to the Oregon Fire Marshal’s office.

Crews say “warm weather, thunderstorms, and erratic winds will begin to test lines” on Wednesday, and the following day could see gusts of wind from the north and northwest that challenge the eastern and southeastern fire lines.

Level 1, 2 and 3 evacuations remain in effect under the direction of both the Deschutes County and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Offices.
