Pranoy Solomon sat at the desk inside the planning department office at Barrington Town Hall and searched for the right words.

Pranoy, a student in the Barrington School Department’s transition academy, interned at the town hall this summer, updating the “Barrington By Address” permit database. Pranoy, who uses a special computer to help him communicate, thought for a moment about an answer to the question: “What’s the best part of your job?”

He started typing on the screen, and seconds later a computerized voice shared his response: “I … am … getting … paid.”
