Deadly attack on Annunciation Catholic School leaves two children and the shooter dead, 17 injured, and prompts a federal hate crime investigation.

A horrific act of violence at a Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday, which killed two children and wounded 17 others, is now being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime, according to the FBI.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced on social media that the bureau is treating the incident as a hate crime targeting Catholics. The shooting, which occurred as children were attending a morning Mass, claimed the lives of an 8 and a 10-year-old.

Minneapolis police confirmed that the shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, a transgender woman, also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
