A young firefighter has died while celebrating her recent graduation from the local firefighting academy.

Sadia D. Williams, a 21-year-old probationary firefighter, died while off duty on Sunday, Aug. 24, according to a statement shared by Washington, D.C. Fire and EMS.

Williams had just graduated from Cadet Class 27 on Friday, Aug. 22, officials said.
