Gov. Tate Reeves has appointed a judge to fill a legislatively-created seat in central Mississippi.
Damon R. Stevenson will serve on the bench in the 7th Circuit Court District, which covers Hinds County. Stevenson has been a practicing attorney since 2008 when he began his career with the U.S. District Court in the probation office. He entered private practice in 2009 and serves as the managing attorney at Stevenson Legal Group, PLLC, where he has litigated both civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts.
For the past seven years, Stevenson has served as municipal court judge for the city of Byram, where he adjudicates the timely resolution of criminal cases during trials and plea hearings while supervising court staff. Additionally, in his role as special master for mental
