Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales are going their separate ways.

Espinal confirmed rumors that the "Love Island USA" Season 7 winning couple is on the outs in an Aug. 27 Instagram story addressed to her fanbase, the "Papayas."

"Bryan and I are no longer together. After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn't align and relationships are (supposed) to be a team sport," Espinal wrote. "You don't have to drink the whole sea to know it's salty. All love here and I truly wish him the best."

The state of the winners' relationship was called into question on Aug. 25, when fans noticed the two no longer followed each other a month into their relationship outside of the reality show's Fiji villa. USA TODAY has reached out to Arenales' team for comment.

As noted by close watchers of reality TV such as Christina Cocca and Zachary Reality, Espinal and Arenales unfollowed each other on Instagram hours before the Season 7 reunion dropped on Peacock.

Fellow finalists Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia-Gonzalez unfollowed each other as well, though neither has publicly addressed the move. USA TODAY has reached out to their teams for comment.

When accountant-slash-real estate agent Arenales and cardiac nurse Espinal won in the July 13 "Love Island USA" finale, they became the franchise's first Latino couple to win the fan vote since the show debuted in 2019.

What happened between Bryan and Amaya during the 'Love Island USA' reunion?

After spending each waking hour together in Fiji, the queen of self-affirmations visited Boston and met Arenales' mom. As a hometown welcome, the winning couple also threw out a pitch to open a Red Sox game.

After the two gushed about taking their relationship into the real world, co-host Andy Cohen addressed the elephant in the room: social media speculation about "a video that sparked a lot of rumors about (Arenales) cheating, partying with other girls."

Espinal cackled in response.

"They're trying to just throw any hate my way," Bryan said. "And within the cheating video, the hosting – I was paid to be there. I used to bartend back in the day. I had a lapse of judgment and we've talked about it. And yeah."

He clarified that this "lapse" referred to "pouring shots around, giving the crowd shots and stuff like that."

Espinal said, "I'm not a woman that would be with someone that doesn't respect me, so if I'm with him and still with him, it's clearly because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great."

Until they unfollowed each other on Instagram, the duo presented a united front during their post-finale press tour.

"Nobody really knows what we experience except for us. So we always fall back on each other whenever we're feeling overwhelmed," Bryan told Today.com in an interview that published Aug. 20. Amaya added, "He always makes it a priority to make sure that we’re both OK."
