The Enumclaw Police Department responded to a burglary call on Aug. 24, resulting in the suspect barricading himself in a 7-Elevent building and a fire.

The EPD received the call around 3:07 a.m., and dispatch informed officers that the male suspect had barricaded himself in the employee office and refused to exit.

Enumclaw officers responded, assisted by Black Diamond Police Department, attempted to coax the suspect out. However, he remained unresponsive and out of sight.

Officers retreated to their vehicles to await additional backup. Upon arrival of more officers, smoke began emanating from the roof, prompting a request for Enumclaw Fire Department assistance. Within minutes, the store was filled
