In June 2024, Cox and Daniel Callihan were arrested in Jackson — after being accused of kidnapping two girls after the girls’ mother was killed.
One of the girls, 4-year-old Erin Brunett, was found murdered. Callihan confessed to killing the child in Jackson after killing her mother in Louisiana.
Cox faces charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Callihan pleaded guilty earlier this month to federal kidnapping charges. Sentencing for Callihan is set for Nov. 19 in Louisiana. He could be sentenced to life in prison.
