ATLANTA — A simple walk down the sidewalk has been anything but for Lorenzo Veney and his dog, Henley. Roadwork put a dent in his plans to remodel his home. He's also dealt with construction.

"It's been crazy," Veney said with a sigh. "Everyone knows about historic Cascade, so buying a house here, I thought they could stand to do some upgrades. Then to see it, we're finally getting upgrades, only for it to take so long."

Atlanta Department of Transportation crews repaved a two-mile stretch of road, added signal improvements and upgraded the water system. Crews also put a one-mile detour in place, cutting off a lot of traffic for nearby businesses while work was ongoing.
