An off-duty NYPD officer died after he was struck while riding his motorcycle on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, according to the city’s police union.

The NYPD said it received a 911 call about crash at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday. The 30-year-old officer had been traveling westbound in the outermost lane of the BQE near exit 27, which connects to Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill, police said.

He was struck by a driver operating a box truck, who was traveling in the same direction and fled the scene afterward, according to police.

The victim was transported to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made, and the NYPD’s Highway Districts Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
