AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A new shaved ice stand is open for business, offering classic summer treats and a strong focus on community.

Atomic City Shaved Ice is run by Brigette Ramirez and her partner. They opened earlier this month in the same location where a friend of Ramirez once operated a similar stand.

“It belonged to a friend of mine, and they ran it here for a few years,” Ramirez said. “It was successful. They moved and decided that it wasn’t for them anymore, and it became an option for us. So we jumped on it.”

Ramirez said she had worked at the stand in the past, which helped make the transition easier.
