The first set of beams for the Bremer Avenue bridge in Waverly was delivered Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Nine beams are planned to be trucked in on each of three days, for a total of 27, according to Pete Hjelmstad, field services coordinator for the Iowa DOT.
Planned delivery days are Wednesday, Aug. 27, Friday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Sept. 4. The beams are 116 feet long.
As noted in a DOT Facebook post, the beams are being trucked in from the south on Fourth Street SW, with the trucks turning to the west on Bremer Avenue. They then back their loads down West Bremer Avenue to the bridge construction site.
Each beam delivery is expected to take about one hour, according to the DOT post.
