MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Gov. Glenn Youngkin will ceremonially sign a bill on Thursday allowing a replacement project for the bridge over the Rappahannock River to begin eight years early.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, Gov. Glenn Youngkin will ceremonially sign the Senate Bill 1082 -- or the Commonwealth Transportation Special Structures Program Revenue Act of 2025 -- to accelerate the replacement construction of the Robert O. Norris, Jr. Bridge.
SB 1082 authorizes the transportation board to issue revenue bonds to fund the project.
The replacement project for the Norris, Jr. Bridge, which connects the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula over the Rappahannock River, was originally set to begin in 2038.
