The National Weather Service Green Bay office confirmed Aug. 27 that a weak tornado briefly touched down in Door County in Peninsula State Park as part of the violent storms that hammered the county the afternoon of Aug. 9 .
According to data from a statement on the NWS website, the tornado touched down just north of the park's golf course, about a half-mile south of Eagle Tower, at 3:54 p.m. and moved east on the ground for about a quarter of a mile before lifting off a minute later and crossing into the waters of Eagle Harbor off Ephraim as a waterspout.
