Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez issued a statement Wednesday following a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis that killed two young students and injured 17 people.

The students were attending Mass inside a church at the start of a new school year when the shooter fired rounds from outside through the windows, Minneapolis police said. The injured included 14 children, some of whom were in critical condition , police said.
