WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two members of the S.C. National Guard were apparent victims of a spitting incident while on patrol duty in the nation’s capital.

On Aug. 26, Scott J. Pichon, 33, was arrested on a charge that he spit on the two Army guard members on assignment near Union Station on Aug. 22.

Pichon, who reportedly approached the troopers while riding a standup scooter, faces a felony assault charge that carries a maximum prison sentence of eight years.

Media reports identified him as an attorney licensed in Maryland.

Pichon reportedly made a noise of coughing up mucus beforehand and then spit a mixture of saliva and mucus on the guardsmen, federal prosecution documents indicate.
